"They just don't make them like they used to." said Forrest James as he pointed out various well detailed chrome moldings and trims on the sturdy body of his all original 2-door 1979 Mercury Marquis.
Forrest, an El Paso, Texas resident and retired U.S. Army Veteran purchased the classic Marquis from the cars single owner who cherished the immaculate car by keeping it stored in a garage for decades. The Mercury's beige-yellow paint, burgundy vinyl top and maroon interior appear factory new, as well as the car's rare and highly desired 351 in³ Windsor V8 engine.
The car's odometer reads a meager 59,000 miles and has never required any engine or transmission work, none other than a general break pad replacement.
Forrest's Marquis is blessed with all matching numbers and has never suffered a single ding or dent.
As for the cars model roots, the Mercury Marquis was assembled by Ford in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. where it ran in production from 1967-1982.
The fourth generation (1979-1982) Mercury Marquis inherited the excellence of its fraternal siblings, the practical Ford LTD and more luxurious Lincoln Continental. The designers of the Marquis aimed to create a full-sized luxury sedan sturdy enough for aggressive daily driving.
We proudly include Forrest James rare and pristine 1979 Mercury Marquis in our ever growing album of cars and look forward in discovering other rare gems to share with you.
