Old Memories
Second Annual Olvera Street Car Show
Article by.C.A
The streets of Downtown L.A.’s Historical Plaza were rumbling, not from an earth quake but from the powerful classic motors of well over a thousand flawless antique automobiles. Row after row of Califas most immaculate cars, trucks and motorcycles could be seen chilling out single file all the way down Olvera Street. This cool event was a photographers dream, with authentic Mexican American culture, vintage cars and historical buildings. None of this could have ever happened without the humble efforts of the events hosts, Old Memories Car Club and other sponsors. Special thanks and our up most respects go out to Manny "Zoot Suiter" Alcaraz of Old Memories car club, who chaperoned us throughout the event and introduced us to Old Memories God Father, President and several other Old Memories car club members.
Lowrider Evolution From Pachuco Art Revolution
Over fifty years ago, when post war pachucos sought means of expressing their rebelliousness, clothing and automobiles were the way to show the Anglo that Chicanos did it their way or hit the f*@king highway. Simon ESE, it was all about rear ends jacked up, front ends slammed down. Creased out kakis, mirror shinned Stacy Adams, and a beautiful brown chachita keeping it real by her pachuco’s side. Mess with her vato y ya te la sabes! Yeah that’s right! And guess what? Those bombitas you see creeping through the boulevard have more hevos than any fiber glass "euro" you see rolling around these days.
Yes these cars spell out rebelliousness; they're solid, sinister looking and have the same style Tin Tan put out in the late 30's and early 1940's.
Message to our youth.

Owning one of these beautiful classic rides doesn't come cheap. Not only do they cost money to build and maintain, but it takes a quality individual to make it into established car clubs such as the ones listed above.
Take a good look at the veteranos rolling around in these pristine carruchas. They're all about pride, honesty and respect. They keep their word and never rip people off.
They're true to their family and friends, that’s why they are able to roll in well structured car clubs who only accept the best.
Spook heads and drug addicts will never have the self discipline and perseverance to own cars like these. They're too weak!
So be true to yourselves and do well in school so you make your viejitos wealthy and relaxed one day. After all, it wasn't easy for some our jefitos to swim across that Rio or put up with all that hate a Mexican had to endure back when the KKK were still running things.
It was the smart kids who grew and educated themselves so well politicians with prejudice minds fear them today. Hey, if it wasn't for these smart veteranos convincing city hall to approve this great car show in downtown L.A., then we'd all be sitting at home watching NASCAR!
So keep it trucha and don't let people who talk run you hot. It takes more strength to remain calm than it is to lose ones cool. Hot heads either end up dead or in prison for life.
Follow this advice and one day you'll be just like one of those grey tops you see showing the world their rare and classic cars and trucks.
Car Clubs
If you ask most artists what they love to draw the most they will likely say gorgious women, colorful sceneries and beautiful cars.
Automobiles, modeling, music and art have always rolled hand in hand. That’s why every time you tune into any music video or watch a thrilling action packed movie, you can best expect to see the star cruising around in an exotic automobile.
Or how about even commercial clips? Do beautiful cars and sexy woman ring a bell? Yes Cars is a form of art and every car club and car affectionardo out there building these cool creations are just as much artists as the muralists, tattoo artists, fashion designers, models, dancers, musicians, athletes and bikers out there who set the trends and make life on earth a much more intersting place.
Our upmost respects go out to every car club and custom auto designer out there, be it Lowriders, bombs, euros, classics, VW's, and others.
