Show N Shine
(In Loving Memory of Gabby)
Article by D.R.A. and R. M.

The true definition of an ideal Sunday afternoon couldn't have been any better defined than by El Paso's "Show n Shine" benefit car show.
This great event was hosted by the respected car clubs of Pachuco, Slow & Low, Our Story, and Colateral Damage.
A good time get-together of all ages and backgrounds united themselves for a worthy cause.
It was in loving memory of 20 year old Gabrielle Herrera, that this gathering took place. Gabrielle was a dancer at Jaguars Gold Club, and recently robbed of her life on her birthday.
A generous cash donation was collected and handed to Gabrielle's mother who was present, and who spoke of her beloved and greatly missed daughter.
Show N Shine was held in the parking lot of JAGUARS GOLD CLUB on 11377 Gateway West, and attracted people with a will to donate to this cause, as well as to revel in their affection for customized lowriders and restored classic automobiles.
Also featured at this cool event were the entertaining performances of local hip hop and rap artists El Dreamer, Cricket, and others.

I Remember
By. Convicto EPT
I remember life in the past. Pleated out 50's and a cold 40 in my hand. I was the proud owner of a sparkling 79 Cutlass that turned the domes of everyone who cared to watch. I had a system most in my barrio referred to as the Earthquake. Crystal clear highs and heart stopping lows all pulsing out of a Kenwood receiver, 2 Kenwood mids and tweets and a pair of Rockford punch 500 15’s enclosed in a snug custom made pinewood box that took up my entire trunk. My frame wasn’t reinforced but that didn’t stop me from abusing the suspension of my carrucha as I hit the switches at the intersection of Delta and Alameda. My windows were as dark as the locs resting on the bridge of my nose. But then I made the foolish mistake of joining a street gang and then that’s when bricks and bottles found their way all over the paint of my pride and joy. That’s when bullets took out my windows and that’s when my car stopped looking like a show car and more like a busted up clunker. I stopped washing my roadsters so they lost their shine. We live and we learn. My cars now history as well as my freedom. Prison is my current miserable life while my only happiness comes from memories of lowriders.
