We are proud to present to you 16 year old hip-hop and R&B artist Azelin “Lil Whisper” Maestas. This young Capricorn resides in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado but is originally from San Diego California.

Whisper’s natural talent to sing and write lyrics emerged at the tender age of 10. It wasn’t until Lil Whisper was 13 that listeners started to recognize she had a gift for singing. Her clean music talent would eventually allure the ears of music producers at a car show she preformed at in Denver Colorado.
There she was invited to record at a studio and that’s when she was inspired into making music a life time career. Her mother and older sister were already singing so they helped pave Whisper’s way through the tough world of hip-hop and together they help form a gangster rap group called the “Azteca Gangstas”. The rap group seemed to be headed for success but unfortunately disbanded after conflict arose with the groups male members.

That’s when Whispers mother Casper realized that her and her two daughters talents were better off independent. The family of 3 put all of their resources together and worked hard to promote Whisper’s music. With time and sacrifice they journeyed into the political jungle of music and found their share of snakes and pitfalls. “You have no friends in the music business, only people you know because so far the ones I thought were down turned out to be fakers and liars.” explains Whisper’s mother Casper about her upsetting experience of being deceived by petty producers. “It’s hard sometimes but YOU MAKE YOUR DESTINY. FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND ALL YOUR DREAMZ WILL COME TRUE!”

Instead of giving up, the family trio decided to chalk it up as a learning experience and continue forward. “I owe everything to my mom Casper, my friend Bob and most importantly God. They always give me strength and support me even if others don’t like what they hear, I’ll never give up on my dreams cuz I’m strong and not a quitter.” says Whisper. “Just cuz someone says you can't do something don't listen to them; never give up on your dreams or yourself.”

Whisper plays music by ear and has always made it a rule to write her own lyrics. She enjoys playing the keyboard and is inspired by famous musicians such as Mozart, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Prince, Insane Clown and Posse, Justin Timberlake.

This up and coming artist is currently a junior at Aurora Central High School and plans to move to southern California where she will continue her quest for music success.

Making it big in art and music is difficult but we believe that when a person boils with the same passion as Whisper, anything is possible. As quoted by the great Charlie "Yard Bird" Parker “Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art."
