The life of Tony Hawk, Americas skateboard Legend

Tony Hawk, birth name Anthony Frank Hawk, was born and raised in San Diego, California.

Tony's life changed when his brother gave him a used fiberglass banana board. The skateboard became Tony Hawk’s obsession and family and friends recall him waking up early in the morning to perform stunts on his skateboard until dawn.

Tony was a hyper active child and exerted his energy in skateboarding. He was a neighborhood trend setter and it didn't take long for other kids in the hood to attempt to mimic his every move.

But nobody could compete with Hawk. At only 12 years old Tony was sponsored by Dogtown skateboards, and by 14 he had already earned himself the title as a pro. 

Tony's dad frank Hawk knew his son was a truly talented skateboarder so he drove young Tony to skateboard competitions through out southern California. 

It didn't take long for Hawk to become a star that would gain him well over a million fans.

By sixteen Hawks was appearing in the news and had been labeled "The Worlds Best Skateboarder".

He has also been credited for helping the sport progress in popularity throughout the mid and late 1980's. 

Tony Hawk is founder of dozens of skateboard action tricks used today by skateboarders throughout the world. Some of his difficult skate board trick inventions  include Backside varial , created in 1980 and front side gay twist, nose grind, backside pop shave-it all created 1n 1986.

In 1994, after the skateboarding industry took a plunge  and vertical skate boarding’s popularity passed away in the rise of street skating, Hawk founded Birdhouse Projects as well Birdhouse Skateboards.

Hawk also owns his own motion picture and TELEVISION production company, 900 Films, and along with his relatives he started Hawk Clothing, as well as an apparel and footwear line sold solely at Kohl's.

Tony's Boom Boom HuckJam tour is the most victorious action sports tour featuring skateboarding, BMX, and Freestyle Motocross. The tour went to arenas from corner to corner in the United States in 2003, 2004, and 2005 and toured Six Flags parks across the nation in the summers of 2006 and 2007.
