The history of Tango is charming and intricate. The progression of the sexy, yet tasteful dance may be traced as far back as 1850 at urban Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo.

The dance was once considered perverted and morally corrupt by conventional stiffs during its birth. Tango remained strictly alternative and struggled to gain respectability in its young years, but it eventually grew in good reputation and became a worldwide victory during World War I.

The extraordinary dance spread into Western Europe and the America's, thanks to Spanish settlers.
Tango has now gained socially acceptable 'Standards' and even inspired talented movie producers in creating movies such as "The Scent of a Woman.", starring Al Pacino and "True Lies" with Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Tango

With No Regrets

A woman with penetrating brown eyes and a Castilian look,
She wore a revealing black dress, both sensual and sexual.

She had burgundy lips, perfect legs and sweet arms,
They were wrapped around me like hot summer sweat.

Or was I just an easy target?
 She never said a word,
Yet she touched me as if she knew me,
 And held my hand.

We were hypnotized by the tango,
We surrendered ourselves in a wicked embrace,
We moved together as one body with no regrets.

Spinning and sinning,
We touched each other for the night,
From her creamy smooth neck down her womanly form.

We were like two enamored serpents,
Hunting and playing in a jungle of lust.
She looked me in the eye’s, I sensed she could not trust.

With the scent of an angel, and a grin like the devil,
Her body so feminine she nearly drove me insane.

It was a yearning pain to watch her do the tango.
I knew I could not possess her, as I had desired to.

Perhaps she did not like the way I danced,
Because she never asked my name.

Perhaps she was herself a tango song,
Always dressed in black and attractive.

Quotes

"It is no indication of insanity to tango. This was settled yesterday by a lunacy commission which decided that Sadie Jefferson is sane. It was alleged the woman tangoed all the way to police headquarters recently when she was arrested."
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

"Dancing is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire."- George Bernard Shaw

"Dancers are the athletes of God" -Albert Einstein

"El Tango es un pensamiento triste que hasta se puede bailar"
The Tango is a sad thought that you can dance. (Enrique Santos Discépolo)

"We enter this world alone. We leave it pretty much the same way. And in-between, a dance we call life. Problem is it takes two to Tango. So we look for signs; something to help us to find our perfect partners. A smile, a wave. But we have to be careful; because while some signs can be misinterpreted, others can be missed completely....Some dances you sit out. Others you change partners. The important thing is...you never stop dancing." --Chuck Fishman, Early Edition
