Alcatraz
Alcatraz became a maximum security penitentiary in 1943, housing 1,545 convicts over 28 years, including cut throat mobster Al Capone; ruthless bank robber George "Machine Gun" Kelly; huckster Robert Franklin Stroud, better known as the "Birdman of Alcatraz"; and political prisoner Morton Sobell. When the prison became too costly to maintain, officials closed it down on March 21, 1963.
Fact
In the 1800s American Indian prisoners were often held at Alcatraz. A year after the penitentiary closed in 1964 the giant prison was "liberated" by rioting Indians who banded together after suffering years of oppression.
Just Another day at The Rock.
As I lay on my bunk staring into darkness I use my imagination to create images out of the pealed off paint on the walls that surround me. One of the images is of a mans face, his jaw wide open as if he's getting shanked a million times.
I make out another image of a lady weeping. She's old and looks just like my mother. I sure do miss mama.
The pealed off paint up by the ceiling resembles a spider, it's appears to be crawling but thats only my twisted imagination, thats bordom and maybe it's insanity creeping up on me.
I think I'm going crazy in this hot humid cell. I feel as if the walls are closing in on me. The bars, the dust, the rats, the darkness. Is this prison, no it must be hell.
My neigbor is such a bitch...boo hoo hoo he crys like a child. I feel like yelling at him to shut the f..ck up but that would'nt do any good. He'd continue talking to himself and likely toss shit on me in the morning when I fall out for shower. That's insanity, cons throwing shit on eachother. Grown men acting like animals.
But then again most of us are f..cking animals, or at least treated so by the fat screws. I think I'll just get up off this bunk and hit the floor. 100 push up coming right up...that was easy.
I bet the screws could'nt do 20. I pace my cell . I feel like a lion, I'm bad. Yeah I'm bad but being bad sure is boring. I think I'll lay my ass back on the bunk and catch some zzzzz.
