Cause For Celebration
by Unknown

I found this speech, not poem. It is something I said, but not for this site. Reading this will reveal the only personal information there is to be revealed about me.

I am, or was, 18 at one stage. This is the speech for my 18th (said on the spot on camera, I've just written it down for the first time).

"Thanks for coming, everyone. I was bloody scared that this party wasn't going to live up to what people expected, but so far, it's been great. I was stressing about the music, the set-up, all of that. All that matters though is who is here, because without you, there is no party. I just.... just thanks for coming, it's been great. I wanted this party to be a celebration, not an excuse to get drunk. It has been a bit of both, but more so a celebration. And I couldn't be happier, because I couldn't celebrate my 18th with anyone better, because you are the one's that have influenced my life the most. My family, my friends. I reckon the people in your life define who you are and make life what it is, and the last 18 years, well, they've been tough from time to time. But whenever I'm with my mates, I realise my life, well... it's bloody good. That says a lot for all of you. Thanks for coming, have a few drinks, dance, and have a bloody good night."

One of a Kind
by Wendy

One day she chose to walk down the wrong path.
No where to run, no where to hide, no turning back, suddenly everything turned black.

One more life to care for, two more lives to pray for.
Daddy never there, it's okay Mommy always cared. Always there to watch them rise after the fall. Always wiped those tears most of all. Always kept them close to her heart, must not let no one tear them apart.

Struggling since the day she was born, she managed to weather the storm. Material things were not always important and the love they shared couldn't compare even if life was unfair.

This became her world, the light that made her shine. With an occasional "what if" thoughts running through her mind. She knew she had to be strong and one of a kind.

Your Birthday
by Regina

When the word birthday comes to you.
You know thats the day thats just your and no one else.
But thats not always true.
If you have a twin your sharing that special day with that person.
But then it comes to February 3rd im not only sharing my birthday with my twin im also sharing it with like 3 other people that day.
Dont think that just because its your birthday no one else is going to have that birthday just be happy that you share your special day with someone else too.

Hora tras hora, dia tras dia

Hora tras hora, día tras día,
entre el cielo y la tierra que quedan
eternos vigías,
como torrente que se despeña
pasa la vida.

Devolvedle a la flor su perfume
después de marchita;
de las ondas que besan la playa
y que una tras otra besándola expiran
recoged los rumores, las quejas,
y en planchas de bronce grabad su armonía.

Tiempos que fueron, llantos y risas,
negros tormentos, dulces mentiras,
¡ay!, ¿en dónde su rastro dejaron,
en dónde, alma mía?.

Rosalía de Castro

Will I Live
Will I live to see the future?
How will it be?
Or will I even live to see
the age of twenty-three?
I'm twenty-one now,
down with a gang.
On Friday night
all I wanna do is gang bang,
and shoot up some vatos,
como pinches gatos,
leave their body on the street,
all covered in blood,
take off in our ranfla,
and smoke some good bud,
esa de la verde,
chronic's the shit.
pass around the pipa
and take another hit.
We sit on the driveway
de mi canton,
take the pisto out,
and talk to the jainas on the phone,
Oye mija, come over to my pad,
we're about to throw a party,
its gonna be hella bad,
traite a tus amigas,
bring all who you can,
porque aqui esta noche,
i'm going to show them who is the man...
