Father's Day

Give 'em a hug, a great big kiss.
Because one day, he will be greatly missed.
My daddy has gone far away from this land,
I miss the precious touch of his loving hands.
I never knew last year was the last day,
I could look at my daddy, hug him, and say:
"I love you, Daddy! Happy Father's Day!"
Don't let one day go by without telling him
how dear he is!
Remember you may not have another year to tell him this!
All I have now is great memories, a heart
full of love and eyes full of tears, and
to remember his love throughout the years.
Now I will have to look up at the stars and
say, "I love you, Daddy! Happy Father's Day!"
Please remember when you pray, to thank your
heavenly father up above.

My father was a stern, strong man,
Full of power and pride,
My youth was spent in rebellion,
His knowledge tossed aside.
He was not a man of soft kind words,
Great moments of affection,
But he was always there, watching out,
His love was his protection.
My youthful eyes could not see,
The man that I view now,
So full of care and loving wisdom,
Which I did disavow.
Though seldom spoken,the words are there,
In the action he does take,
Those moments he loves and forgives,
Even my worst mistake.
The time he takes to show concern,
When my path may stray,
Or the awkward words which still are spoken,
When we're in dismay.
I'd never trade a single moment,
Not one, end to start,
He is my dad, I am his girl,
Always in his heart.

sat side by side
next to you.
We'd sit
on our lonely front porch
watching nothing but time.
While you sat in your chair
I sat firmly in mine.
The plastic pink one
that squeaked all the time.
You'd flip a few pages
from our daily news paper
and I'd flip mine.
They were pages
slightly torn
from an old coloring book
that I use to have.
Still, I kept
glancing your way
to find what I could do
so I could be
just like you.

You have given me advice
Telling me that I should not have any fears
Knowing me at times I could be tenacious
The lucid words and advice you give
I am able to grasp every word
Everything you taught us will be outlived
Every word told has been heard
When any of us was distraught
I knew you would be there with open ears
Dropping anything on the spot
Ready to listen and wipe our tears
There was no doubt
That you did not believe in me
I feel like i have began to sprout
And think that you can agree
If it weren't for you
I would not be where I am today
I have become a person i never knew
And knowing soon I'll be on my way

But in life you have taught me how to fly
You may not be a comedian

To the man I call my Dad
As I look back on these fourteen years
And all the good times we've had.
All are filled with laughter
Our faces brightened with smiles
Especially when you tickle me
You could hear my laugh from miles.
I can see that you love me
As I love you right back
The feeling of loneliness when I'm with you
Is one thing that I lack.
You help me with many things
And encourage me to do my best
You always manage to put a smile on my face
Whenever I'm feeling stressed.
You always joke around
In a way that shows you care
And when I need you help or support
I know you're always there.
