Musink, an internationally known tattoo festival brings the biggest and most talented names in music and tattoos every year to Orange County. This was Musink's 3rd annual tattoo, art and music expo and as usual it continues to attract artists of all talents from around the world. The event is a huge mosaic of unconventional flair, fashion, and design. It's an event where creative minds present the world with new styles and forms of extreme art.
This year's Musink event was hosted by Small Paul and the Original True Tattoo. It featured the Punk & Rock legend performances of The Headcat, The Cult, The Damned, Lemmy Killmeister of Motorhead, NoFx, and Face to Face. Professional skater Mike Vallely carved onto the stage to perform with his band Mike Vallely By The Sword. Vallely who is the bands vocalist, and performed with immense intensity went on to cover Black Flag’s "Six Pack".
Celebrity tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado was in the house and we talked about a variety of topics including his specialty in colored portraiture. Nikko, who slings ink out of Ignition Tattoo in Apple Valley , California has been tattooing since 2002. The easy going artist appeared as a guest on LA Ink and Tattoo Wars.
Newport Beach tattoo artist Krystin Jones who's arms are festooned with tattoo art featured some of her intense art as well. Jones was raised by artistic parents and masters in everything from tattooing and drawing, to stencil and burning wood. Her art is heavily unconventional with a morbid twist.
The living legend Mark Mahoney was also available. Mahoney has amassed a huge following, including Hollywood Celebrities and Music Stars. Mark is considered to be a forefather of black and grey tattoos. He has also mentored some of the industries biggest names and has definitely helped advance the industry. Musink attracted other well known tattoo artists including self taught artist Big Gus and Yucaipa, California Artist Ramon Abrego.
Let's take for example tattoo inspired clothing company, Sullen Clothing along with Small Paul whom presented their “The Musink Art Show”. The company showcased an arsenal of over 75 pieces of original art from Freddie Negrete, Eddie Deutche, Clay Decker, Jack Rudy, Filip Leu, Bill Salmon, and Greg James. “ This is what we do !” said Sullen Clothing Line Marketing Director Jeremy Hanna.
Indeed that is what these artists do and we proudly share with our viewers these collection of photos taken through out the 3 day "Tattoo Disneyworld" event. Enjoy!
