Rocío Dúrcal, a spanish actress and singer, was born in Madrid Spain on October 4, 1944 and passed away March 25, 2006. Her beautiful singing talent was discovered in a youth musical contest at the age of 15 and she started her acting career by age 17. She married Filipino singer Antonio Morales (a.k.a. Júnior), a member of the Pop group Los Brincos. She retired from the industry in 1975 after having two of her three children but relaunched her singing career in 1977 She recorded several albums of Mexican ranchera music produced by international singer Juan Gabriel which sold millions of records around the world. Her star influenced many other female Mariachi singers from Mexico as well as the Hispanic community of the United States. In 2001 Rocio Durcal was diagnosed with uterine cancer and passed away in her birth town of Madrid Spain 3 years later.
