El Dreamer

Chicano Rap Artist

By.C.A

Smooth lowriders, fast euros and immaculate trucks and SUV’s. That’s always a guarantee when attending any one of El Paso ’s great car shows. These fine rides and El Paso’s Latin hip hop artist, El Dreamer seem to go hand and hand when pleasing crowds with their signature El Chuco Town expressions. We were fortunate enough to take pleasure in the performance of Dreamer while scoping out hundreds of shiny rides at last years Fox Plaza ’s car show. The native El Pasoan has a distinctive way of attracting the audience with his music’s reflective lyrics and his influential voice. Dreamer doesn’t miss a beat so we are pleased to include him in our collection of artists whom we deem to be paramount. Enjoy.

Interview

C.A. : It's a pleasure to us here at ConvictedArtist.com to include you in our site. At what age did you realize you had a special talent for rap and hip-hop?

Dreamer: I’ve been flowing since I was 13 but I’ve always kept it to myself. I didn’t let anyone hear my flow until I was 15 after I started recording myself with some cheap programs I had. That’s when I started taking my music more serious and learned how to produce my own music and make my own beats. I’ve now started my own label, Onda Empire Entertainment with artists Sleepy, Spider, Disaster, Lil 1, Fame and Crusty.

C.A. : Tell us about your upbringing, how was life for you while growing up?

Dreamer: I was born and raised in El Paso , but I can honestly say that I wasn’t brought up all poor, nor did I live a struggled life as far as being poor with nothing to eat or no cloths on my back, etc. I didn’t have everything I wanted but my parents had enough to give me what I needed to get by. As far as the life of a gangster, it’s just something that happened. While growing up, I had my share of court dates for messing up with the law. Even today I’m still trying to get out of my problems. I had a lot of enemies and fake homies while growing up so I was always watching my back in the neighborhood I lived at. Things are better now, not too many enemies, just small time haters hating because of my success in music.

C.A. : Your tune, Bounc’in is one of our personal favorites. We really dig the lyrics. Tell us what inspired you to create that song?

Dreamer: My song Bounc’in was my hit single right off my first album (Drifting on a Memory). I made that song because many people who didn’t know me were questioning me on why I was making love and lowriding music instead of gangster tracks. I don’t like to talk about what I did in the past. I’ll make some tracks with a glimpse of my gangster life, but just a peak, not a complete story. Those who talk don’t know and those who know don’t talk. I’m one of those who do know, and knows not to talk.

C.A. : Who are some of your personal favorite musicians out there?

Dreamer: My first favorite has to be my respects to Lil Rob. Crazy Life was one of the first albums I had of Chicano rap that inspired me to get in to music. Much respect to Lighter Shade of Brown, Kid Frost, and I’m also a big fan of Akon.

C.A. : What do you have planed for the future of your music career?

Dreamer: My plans are just to take my underground music and label (Onda Empire Entertainment) to a main stream level and see Latin Hip Hop at the same level as any other Hip Hop genre.

C.A. : It was great learning more about you. Feel free to send out regards to the people you respect and love?

Dreamer: First my love goes to God and the opportunities he has given me. My parents, family, Onda Empire Family, 915 Records, the Raza from coast to coast, and all my gente from the city of Pachucos (El Paso).
