The Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, an instant classic, is a familiar ride in the lowrider scene. Cutlass Supreme naturally fits the lowrider-look and appears great with 13 inch wire wheels. Virtually identical to the Buick Regal, the Cutlass Supreme was a top selling g-body coupe and one of the most popular lowriders all through the 80's.
Style
With its sleek style, smooth performance and spacious front interior, the impressive Cutlass Supreme is a premium g-body coupe perfect for cruising and dating in luxury.
Cutlass vs. Regal
Many may speculate which of the these two mid-sized luxury coupes is finer. Both GM's Oldsmobile and Buick divisions often viewed one another as competitors. GM provided both Olds and Buick with comparable budgets, matching frame and body design. GM's aim was that both Cutlass and Regal compete in styling and nothing more. Both Cutlass Supreme and Regal are basically the same car with the exception of styling of front and rear end, dash, trim, moldings and emblems.
Under the Hood
Cutlass Supreme were built with a variety of Buick 231 V6, Oldsmobile 307 V8 and in some rare cases with the Pontiac 301 V8, or Chevrolet 305 V8. The choice was left to the buyer.
The Demise
Today the Cutlass Supreme has become a rare bird due to a combination of our U.S. governments Cash for Clunkers campaign and lowrider hydraulics abuse. Accessing original show quality parts such as bezels, grilles, moldings etc. has become costly and difficult.
Definition
Cutlass: fairlyarched sword with a single cutting blade, once used by sailors.
Supreme: Greatest in dominance, influence, or status;overriding or foremost.
