Club Review
Thats how long it seems to be since I last went to latin dancing. it was great to see all the spanish mamis making a bee-line for this place in their high heels. we scored free street parking, many of the surrounding lots will be more than happy to flag ur behind into their parking spots. there's a LONG list of things u cant wear in (especially for guys - no ripped jeans, caps, or sneakers). the cover is more steep than im used to paying, but they have a live band doing salsa sets through the night in the main room. we got a bartender who wasnt playing around when he mixed drinks , no dinner + one AMF + RHS shot = feelin' GREAT! my drunk friend ,celebrating his birthday , spun me into 5 couples while dancing, people here are very forgiving or i was too buzzed to notice the glares we probably got. while the band takes breaks they mix it up with merengue, cumbia, and reggaeton. bonus points for spinning some bachata at the end of the night!!! the lower level has hiphop and its freaking hot as a costa rican jungle, u can feel the heat in the hallway. upstairs they had reggea/top 40 and i shook my booty there for a while. when we left they handed out free passes for u to come back again - SCORE!!!(only ladies were handed these , sorry fellas.
More about the club...
This club has great salsa nights on the weekend, and also hosts events such as Lucha VaVoom (Mexican wrestling AND burlesque! with midgets even!). Their dance floor is large and gets packed, and there's also an uper level with stadium style bleachers for hanging out when your dogs get tired.
Orq. Tabaco Y Ron
Héctor Manuel Rivera, who started playing the piano during his junior high school days in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, currently leads Orquesta Tabaco y Ron, one of the top Los Angeles salsa bands, featuring the vocal talents of Martín Padilla. The following is ah interview with both of these talented musicians.
Salsa
Salsa means sauce in the Spanish language, and carries connotations of the spiciness common in Latin and Caribbean cuisine. More recently, salsa acquired a musical meaning in both English and Spanish. In this sense salsa has been described as a word with "vivid associations but no absolute definitions, a tag that encompasses a rainbow assortment of Latin rhythms and styles, taking on a different hue wherever you stand in the Spanish-speaking world". The precise scope of salsa is highly debatable. Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants in New York have used the term analogously to swing or soul, which refer to a quality of emotionally and culturally genuine music in the African American community. In this usage salsa connotes a frenzied, "spicy" and wild musical experience that draws upon or reflects elements of Latin culture, regardless of the specific style.

canciones y discografia
Coro: Carnaval
Eh puede reir
Coro: No hay que llorar
Para gozar
Coro: Carnaval
Para disfrutar
Coro: Hay que vivir cantando
Coro: Carnaval
La vida es un carnaval
Coro: No hay que llorar (bis)
Todos podemos cantar
Coro: Carnaval
