SAN DIEGO , CA - This year's Chicano Park Day marked its 40th anniversary of offering thousands of spectators a weekend worth remembrance.
A large variety of colorful classic cars and lowriders interconnected well with a back ground of hundreds of vivid pillar murals in San Diego's Chicano Park.
The park, which is located in the cities Barrio Logan community, attracted car clubs and vintage car collectors from around the nation. In full display were vintage and low riding treasures belonging to car clubs such as Amigo's, Old Memories, Pachuco, Individuals, Oldies, New Wave, Latin Pride, Klique, Imperials, Show Time, Majestic's, Southern Royalty, Impalas, and dozens of others. The detailed quality of all of these cars was incalculable, right down to the slightest screw and bolt.
Out of state car clubs such as Latin Pride, Our Story and Klique of El Paso, Texas ventured to San Diego, California to partake in what is known to the lowriding community as one of the nation's most majestic car shows. This year's celebration offered all who attended an assembly of amusement, entertainment such as Azteca dancers, Folkloric, contemporary music, art exhibitions and even poetry readings. The organizers of this great park event are said to have inspired car clubs and community activist from El Paso, Texas to follow its lead by forming it's very own park committee, the "Lincoln Park Conservation Committee", and to providing it's people with a Chicano Park-style Lincoln Park Day.
Lincoln Park Day is held in El Paso's Lincoln Park and strongly resembles San Diego's Chicano Park.
