These drawings combined signify the ancient city Aztlan the mystical place of origin of the Aztec peoples. Aztlan is known to have existed however the exact location remains a mystery to this day. This drawing depicts the culture of this ancient civilization.

"La Malinche"

PAINTING SIGNIFICANCE: Named Dona Marina by the Spaniards and La Malinche by the Aztecas. La Malinche the daughter of an Azteca chief is considered to of helped the Spaniards destroy the Mexica Empire by enabling the Spanish Conquistador Cortez to trick the Indians before slaughtering them and eventually enslaving them. Her ability to interpretate for the Spaniards helped introduce Christianity and put an end to one of historys most brutal, yet fascinating civlizations. Labeled as a traitor, slave, mistress, and “mother of the first Mexican” La Malinche stirs up much controversy today for her role in early Latin America. This drawing represents the fearlessness and loyalty of “La Malinche”.

PAINTING SIGNIFICANCE: "The seeds of greatness, the seeds of destruction" A great and proud 200-year-old seemingly invincible nation was cut down in just two short years. Fallen seeds of a condemned tribe known for its bravery and brutality. Seeds in which grew and where forced to adapt to the new world that conquered theirs, the life of European living. Aztec Autumn is a portrait of one of many lost seeds. Lost in between her dieing native roots and today's influential European culture.
