siquiera comparable a tu resplandor
ni pureza de Santísima Esposa.
De los humanos eres Sagrario
y me cubre tu Venerable Aliento…
el dulce Ayate, tu Tilma, tu Manto
y todo se calma en tu Rosario.
Te canto porque soy guadalupano
y con esa voz, traigo un solo ruego
“Mi Niña” como dijo el indio Diego,
no olvides a tu siervo franciscano.
TO THE MOTHER OF GOD ON EASTER NIGHT
Thy faith had never faltered, nor thy trust;
Thy love had loyal proved when Calvary
Had mingled with its very mire and dust
The Blood Divine which God had gained thro' thee.
Thine eyes looked up thro' tears of sorrow such
As mother-heart, in all earth's centuries,
Had never known, nor ever shall, Thy touch
Yet unto us, who brought upon thee woe,
Forbidden was to soothe God's agonies.
Thou givest love-when we have wronged thee so!
Thyself hast seen Him in the morning bright,
And won for us the Pax of Easter night!
O Mother, in thy joy at this our bliss,
Help us forget the awful Judas-kiss,
The sorry symbol of our cowardice
And arrant emblem of our perfidy!
God's Mother Mary, keep us close to thee,
And teach our hearts to tender such embrace
As brings the glow of gladness to His Face-
That Face Divine which won its features fair
From thine, thine own, thou Lily chaste and rare!
Thy heart is knowing that we feel His peace,
Thy soul is sighing that we give Him love.
Throughout earth's exile help our hope increase,
Till Christ shall crown it in His courts above!

MATERIAL USED:(15” x 15”) handkerchief cloth, black pen ink
Prison art and prison tattoos
When it comes to prison art and prison tattoos, handkerchief art and single needle tats are kin. It’s no coincidence that they look so much alike. Tattoo artists in prison use a single needle on their guns and drawing a handkerchief is no different except the artist uses a single ball point pen. That is what gives a handkerchief such sharp details.
Walk into any prison (God forbid) and you will find a world of black ink murals. Prisoners are muraled down in tattoos, the coffee cups they drink out of are also muraled down and the art they send to their loved ones are muraled down with some of the best art in the world. Why are prisoners so good in art? Put a person in a cage and give him a pen and best believe the walls will be muraled down out of bordom. As the convict says “Whats the rush…time is on our side”. Yes indeed time is on a convicted artists side. Taking the time to perfect it and do it right.
INSIDE A PRISON CELL
Inside a prison cell
I sat there all alone.
No where to go,
Not even a home.
My heart cried out
In that tiny cell,
I told Jesus; this is living hell.
I got down on the floor,
Prayed out to the Lord,
I told Jesus I cannot take this anymore.
He said my child, confess your sins.
I'll forgive you and take you to the eternal end.
My life has changed now by His grace,
I know that Jesus saved me a place.
Now I have a home;
That I did not have before,
It was Jesus who knocked on my cell door.
