Facts about the Goths

The ancient Greeks and Romans considered the Goths " Scythians". The name Scythian is used in Herodotus (440 B.C.) to describe barbarians who lived on their horses north of the Black Sea.

Gothic warriors were nomadic and were the fiercest and most brutal of all European tribes. What made the Gothic Knight so powerful was their snake sword and thick body armor.

They looked sinister in their heavy iron face masks and the sight of a Gothic Warrior was any Romans worst nightmare.

The snake sword could easily slice the Romans sword and is one of the reasons the Goths battered the powerful Roman Empire..

The Snake Sword

Though a crucial weapon since the Stone Age, it took the flowering imagination of the Renaissance to evolve the primitive sword into its full beauty and potential. Since most swords were not effectively useful against plate armor the snake sword was probably one of the most effective weapons created since cannons. Snake Swords were favored by knights for mounted and hand to hand combat. This beautiful sword dates toward the early end of the 16th century. The imaginatively contoured, tempered, high carbon steel blade is nicely shaped in their own right. The tough iron handle completes quite a formidable weapon Gothic Battle Snake Sword.
